Here are some of our bright environmental magnet program students enjoying a glass bottom boat ride to allow them to see the sea life underneath in The Florida Keys. The program benefits greatly from its ideal location surrounded by all types of important ecosystems on land and off shore.
Magnet students can literally walk to some spectacular parks and nature preserves near where the school is nestled. Just a short bus ride away, beach, bay inlets and The Florida Everglades are ready to explore and study for hands on conservation needs and solutions. Many of the field trips are on the water, in the water, or near the water. All participants must pass a swimming safety assessment in Grade 9, and follow a rigorous schedule of classroom and field studies through Grade 12. FERM Parents volunteer as chaperones for field trips and other Magnet-specific events. |
Parents can pay for trip in cash to the teacher or online with a credit card at the BCPS online school payments portal osp.osmsinc.com/browardfl/ Chaperones are always needed to take an airboat ride or sit on the shore, You must be registered as BCPS volunteer. Fill out the application at https://www.browardschools.com/volunteer and let FERM know your availability.
